As an absolute advocate for anything that sparkles, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this gorgeous limited edition Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Palette! Believe it or not, I’ve actually never tried the shimmer brick formula, but I thought that this palette would be a great investment as I think it’s great value for money and you get to try out three shades. Aside from a dab of concealer and the perfect lipstick, I do honestly believe that eyeshadow has the biggest ability to make the most noticeable difference to your makeup look. Continue reading “My Top 3 Eyeshadows! | Drugstore & High-end”
Hello again lovely people! Happy weekend!
Today’s post is a review on the most beautiful eyeshadow I think I have ever found… Bobbi Brown’s Cement!
If you follow me on Twitter (@sshhbeauty) you probably saw me having a little rave about this, but seeing as I’ve given it a fair test now I’m going to review it for you.
You know me, I love sleek little compacts, no fuss, no extra bulk – I just think that they look more expensive (and they slip really neatly into your makeup bag too!).
Although it can be hard to open (but that’s probably just me begin a weakling) I adore the packaging and it’s really sturdy too so it’s ideal to travel with. I also like how you can see the shade through the lid – I have a couple of these eyeshadows (one of which I duped here!) and knowing the colour before I open it is just handy.
Now onto the shade… Ooh, it’s just so pretty! I love it!
I would describe it as being a taupe-bronze with a slight rosy tint to it… And then add a load of chunky glitter!
Just a little warning – the glitter is very chunky, so if you’ve got sensitive eyes it could irritate them a little.
The glitter is so intense on the lids that it’s perfect with subtle skin, lots of mascara and then a nude lip – it just looks knockout!
And even though there’s a lot of glitter it’s still perfect for everyday wear – as well as an evening out.
I also found the lasting power to be incredible – it didn’t budge during the day but at the same time it was a dream to remove!
Here’s a swatch!
Packaging: 5/5 (sturdy, sleek, compact)
Formula: 4/5 (gorgeous chunky glitter, but could irritate sensitive eyes!)
Colour choice: 5/5 (a nice neutral colour selection)
Overall quality: 5/5
Recommended? Yep! If you’re looking to indulge in a luxury eyeshadow you can’t really go wrong with this – wearable shade, amazing lasting power and a stunning shine!
What’s the one beauty product you would invest in?
I think any makeup fiend has a love streak for Bobbi Brown. I mean, why wouldn’t you?
Everything from the sleek black packaging to the beautiful products makes me want everything that they offer – but the price tags are pretty hefty to say the least!
I’ve been obsessed with the Sparkle Eyeshadow in Ballet, and, after some drugstore snooping, I came across a pretty good dupe which I’m sharing today!
Here’s my guilty pleasure!
Ballet is such a gorgeous colour and the chunky glitter gives such a beautiful effect on the lids!
Because the shade is quite subtle it goes with just about anything – let’s just say I’ve definitely got my wear out of it!
This eyeshadow cost me about £23, which is crazy expensive for such a little pan, I’m sure you’ll agree! No matter how beautiful the shade might be, the price tag is ridiculous (sorry Bobbi Brown, but it is!).
Oh, here’s a swatch too!
Anyway, let’s get onto the dupe shall we?
So my dupe is the MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter (bit of a mouthful), and before you all go nuts I know that this isn’t supposed to be an eyeshadow! The thing is, although I do use it on the cheekbones I much prefer to use a liquid highlighter on my skin. I just think that they look much more natural, and last longer too!
Seeing as I wasn’t using this much I started using it as an eyeshadow and get far more use out of it. It’s so similar to Bobbi Brown Ballet but with more shimmer instead of glitter, and the colour is ever so slightly different. It does give an extremely similar effect on the lids though!
Best of all, this is ONLY 3 POUNDS! Come on, I’m sure saving £20 can’t be a bad thing?
Here they are swatched side-by-side, with Ballet on the left and the MUA highlighter on the right:
So, tell me – would you rather spend £23… or £3?
Although the Bobbi Brown eyeshadow is flipping gorgeous and I treasure it, I would recommend saving those pennies to spend on something that you can’t get any cheaper!
What’s your favourite eyeshadow at the moment?
