I seem to have had a wee shopping spree over the past few days and I’ve managed to accumulate a little stash of new and exciting beauty bits! There’s nothing quite like trying out new products, and seeing as I’ve been on a small spending ban for a fair few weeks I can quite happily justify that I was right to treat myself.
I thought I’d gather the bits and pieces I’ve purchased recently and give you my first impressions too!
The first thing I picked up was another Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. I am absolutely obsessed with this sponge, as I’m sure many of you will know, and the one I’m currently using has been looking a bit grubby and sorry for itself for a fair while now. I decided to toss that one for a lovely new fresh one, and let me tell you, there’s nothing quite as lovely as using a brand new makeup sponge! I use this for foundation and concealer, and it creates such a gorgeous even canvas for makeup you want to apply on top. I think they’re only about £6 and so incredibly worth it in my opinion!
I also decided to finally try the Vichy Dermablend Foundation, something I’ve been um-ing and ah-ing over for what seems like forever! I have really red cheeks and I wanted something really pigmented that’d cover that so I could contour and experiment with different blush shades. The reviews I read were so glowing, but I’m not massively impressed. It’s quite drying and doesn’t fully cover my redness which is really disappointing. Maybe my redness is more intense than I first thought; I’m not sure – but the search for the perfect covering continues I suppose!
I also grabbed a fresh tube of my beloved Lash Sensational Mascara from Maybelline. I recently fell back in love with this brilliant product and it’s really made me question why I ever tried another mascara! I absolutely love it; it curls, lengthens and adds lots of volume, and I’ve never received so many compliments on my lashes as I have when wearing this particular mascara. I do find that it works best when slightly dried out, so as my other tube still has a bit of life left in it I think I’ll open this one and leave it until the other one’s completely dry so that when I do come to use it, it won’t be too thick or difficult to work with.
My final purchase is my first ever buy from Too Faced! I feel like I have so many opinions on Too Faced yet I haven’t tried anything from them. This is Papa Don’t Peach, their peach-infused blusher that’s a part of the brand new Sweet Peach collection for Spring/Summer! I absolutely love peachy shades on my skin as I have yellow undertones, and this blusher is so gorgeous! It’s essentially a peachy pink with golden reflex and it’s so wearable and glowy. I plan to do a full review on this within a couple of weeks so look out for that if you’re interested in swatches, wear time and pigmentation.
What have you purchased recently?

Ah thank you! 🙂 The RT sponge is fantastic, I’d highly recommend it – I don’t use brushes for foundation after seeing the difference it made to the finish of my makeup x

Hi,
I’m not sure if your red cheeks are from rosacea, but if so, you may want to try Head & Shoulders’ clinical strength shampoo. I know. Weird. But it works. I’ve been using it for years. http://www.livestrong.com/article/426932-how-to-use-pyrithione-zinc-for-rosacea/

I’m not sure what it is – not in the typical rosacea place, it’s all over my cheeks, but it’s dry and textured like rosacea generally is. That’s such a cool tip! Did it really work?! I’ll have to try that! xx

It did. I started using it in October 2014 after a post-vacation flareup (during which my face actually looked like a flare). I highly recommend trying it! (Especially since $8 is soooo much cheaper than a dermatologist bill.)
Take care!

That Real Techniques sponge sounds really great. I wonder if it would be a good dupe for the BeautyBlender.

I hear it’s a brilliant dupe, although I haven’t tried the Beauty Blender myself. It’s supposedly much easier to clean as the Beauty Blender stains quite easily. I’d definitely recommend giving this one a try though; it’s fantastic x
