Despite hearing mixed reviews on these matte liquid lipsticks that NYX recently released, I was still intrigued to pick one up and test out the formula for myself! To be honest, I haven’t really tried that many matte liquid lip products myself in the past, but I can feel myself moving away from glossy lips more and I want to find something longwearing, not too drying and relatively affordable.
I picked up a shade from the NYX Lingerie line and I thought I’d share my thoughts with you; hopefully this helps some of you!
Packaging-wise, I definitely see a resemblance to the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits (whether or not that was intended I’m not sure!)and overall I do really like it! I much prefer to be able to see the colour through the tube so I can decide whether or not it’ll match the look I’m wearing without needing to open it and swatch it first. There’s a suction when you remove the doe-foot which scrapes off some of the product – something I hear that the Kylie products are lacking in… – and the lid is secure so you don’t need to worry about it coming loose in your handbag.
I’ve heard very contrasting things about the longer-than-average doe foot applicator, but I feel as though I’m one of the few to actually like it! Unlike the Soft Matte Lip Creams from NYX which have shorter, wider applicators, the Lingerie lipsticks have a much thinner, flatter tip. I personally find it very easy to gain control over the wand itself and filling in the cupids bow is a doddle – but do read some other reviews too because I’ve heard very different opinions!
These liquid lipsticks are Β£6.50 each; not a bad price if you look at L’OrΓ©al and Max Factor’s lip product pricings.
I really love the shade Bedtime Flirt; it’s a brown nude with a hint of pink in there which in my opinion makes it 10 times easier to pull off than just a straight brown colour. I will say that the colour does look different when it’s dry to when it’s just been applied or swatched, so take note of this when you’re looking in store and give swatches a couple of seconds to set.
It’s a very pigmented product, so you don’t need to apply lots of coats to build up a good full colour. I’ve personally found that the more layers you apply, it feels thicker and drier on the lips and it becomes that matte sticky texture that really isn’t very comfortable! If, however, you apply a thin layer, it actually doesn’t even feel like you’ve got anything on and is really lightweight!
I think this product wears quite well, considering that it’s not too drying at all! It stays perfect for about three hours, but after eating and drinking I would say that it’d be best to top it up. You don’t have to remove it before reapplying (some liquid lipsticks tend to bunch up during topping up!) which is really handy for on the go!
Overall I’m slightly obsessed with this lip product and I really want to buy more shades! I’m totally into the matte-lip look now; I can’t get enough of it. I purchased mine from Boots.
What’s your favourite liquid lipstick?

Looks a little bit drying but I still want to try one of these. I can’t choose between Bedtime flirt and Ruffle Trim)

Bedtime Flirt is more pink whereas Ruffle Trim is a bit warmer and more orangey – both are lovely! I personally think Bedtime Flirt would suit really pale skin better (I’m incredibly pale!) but I suppose it’s all down to personal preference π xx

Thank you for the help! I think I’ll choose Ruffle Trim as more pink colors suit my skin tone π½

Love this shade! I’ve got it in lace detail and really love it. I’ve not had chance to try a kylie lip kit so can’t compare it to that, but I feel it’s not too drying and the pigment is great, especially considering the price! Definitely think I’m gonna have to pick up a few more shades from the range π thanks for the great post!

I wanted the soft matte lip creme’s for ages but the shades I wanted were always sold out! From what I’ve heard the lip lingerie is longer lasting though so think I may stick with these. Such a NYX fan though!! Xx

This formula is longer lasting but the Soft Matte Lip Creams last pretty well and are really moisturising too, whilst these are a bit more drying! π I’d recommend that formula too! xx

Thank you lovely! π That’s so frustrating! The nearest Boots to me only has a small Nyx counter and doesn’t stock much so I had to travel a bit further to my bigger shopping centre to pick this up! π¦ Worth it though! xx
