Top Beauty Picks from October!

October has come and gone… Which, for me, means that we are well and truly in the swing of Autumn.

It’s not just the crunchy leaves that make me love this time of the year so much – berry lipstick has it’s comeback, full-on glittery red nail polish is allowed and cold evenings snuggled up on the sofa also make me smile.

Seeing as October’s well and truly done and dusted, I thought I’d share my top picks in the beauty realm with you!

rimmel wake me up foundation

First thing’s first – an oldie, but a goodie: Rimmel’s Wake Me Up Foundation. I totally fell in love with this product back around this time last year, but with being a beauty blogger (I’m sure my fellow blogging friends will agree on this one!) sticking to one product is kind of impossible. I know I’m always keen to try new things to review for you guys, and if I stayed chatting about the same foundation over and over I doubt you’d all be here today!

I whacked it back out a few weeks ago though and have loved it ever since. Having dry skin, I’ve always loved a dewy finish, and this foundation gives me a nice glow without being too shiny (even us dry skinned girls don’t want oil!). It’s also nice and moisturising on the skin and stays put all day with a wee dusting of powder.

benefit hoola

Next for face is my baby-size of Hoola bronzer from Benefit. I got this little sample in a kit which I reviewed right here, and for a long while I didn’t use it barely at all. I’ve never been a big contouring girl, but I still lust after killer cheekbones (who doesn’t?) and after a makeup clear-out I decided that I either started using this or it was time to say goodbye.

Good job I gave it a second chance though, for now I’m obsessed with it! It’s totally matte, which is fab for contouring, and I just take a big fluffy brush and give myself slight definition and an overall sunkissed look.

I just love the colour of it – The Body Shop bronzer is beautiful too but it has more of a yellow undertone, whereas Hoola has an ashy feel to it which makes it look a lot more natural.

nars copacabana

Finally for base comes my beloved NARS Copacabana Illuminator. This was not cheap, I just want to point out, but I would never recommend a product to you guys unless I thought it was 100% worth the splurge… And this, I can justify!

I like high-end makeup when I can’t find a drugstore equivalent, and I’ve tried several liquid highlighters from the shelves of Boots or Superdrug that just have not pleased me whatsoever.

Copacabana is just that PERFECT highlighter. I love love love to look dewy, and this is so highly pigmented that it gives you that incredible ‘lit from within’ sort of glow on the cheekbones – but you can also mix it in with foundation (looks gorgeous) or under foundation as a glowy base.

The possibilities are endless with this product… And I have to say, I’m obsessed!

max factor smokey eye drama kit

Back to another very budget favourite now, and it’s this Smokey Eye Drama Kit from Max Factor – oh, and I’ve reviewed this here if you’re wondering!

I’ve been using the palest shade on the left there religiously throughout the month, but not on my actual eyes – as an under-eye setting powder! It’s fantastic, as it has tiny shimmers in it (but no actual glitter chunks, don’t worry) so it reflects the light and gives a brighter, more awake look, concealing darkness more effectively than concealer alone.

It’s a different but great way to use an eyeshadow, and I’ve been wearing it daily this month! It’s in the shade Opulent Nudes.

loreal collection privee lipstick cheryl

Finally I have my most used lipstick of the month – and it’s another very budget option. It’s J-Lo’s nude from L’Oréal (originally Cheryl’s nude).

I’ve been wearing nude lipsticks so much recently as I’ve been going smokier with eyeshadow and pairing them with this pinky-nude has been a dream. The colour is so intense and buttery, and it glides over any dry patches to give the illusion of perfect lips!

I can’t fault this lipstick one tiny bit. The packaging’s beautiful; very high-end, and the colour’s just perfect for me.

So that is my rather long October Favourites, done and dusted!

What have you loved this month?

Bye for now beautiful!

El xx

    1. It’s lovely isn’t it! I adore L’Oreal packaging; it just feels so high end when in reality it’s very affordable!
Have a great weekend too, lovely!

    1. Ooh you’ve made me want the stick form now! 🙂 haha, it’s such a gorgeous colour though. I wish Copacabana wasn’t so runny sometimes as it’d look beautiful on the lids if it was stiffer x
